The York Suburban School District hired Reynolds to provide full construction management services for their new Yorkshire Elementary School.
The 60,835-square-foot building was built on the site of the existing Yorkshire Elementary School and accommodates 350 K-2 students. The classrooms were designed to allow for interaction and learning opportunities in a cross-grade instruction format. Exposed mechanical systems, mechanical system monitoring devices, and detention pond wetland plantings serve as environmental stewardship teaching tools.
Some of the sustainable features of the project include day lighting, ground-source heat pump for efficient heating and cooling, and the reuse of salvaged materials from the original building, including columns, wood floors, trim and slate shingles. The project has earned LEED Silver certification from the USGBC.
