Delaware County Community College

Project Background

Delaware County Community College hired Reynolds to provide construction management services for their new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) complex at their Media, PA campus.

The STEM complex is comprised of two buildings: a 33,600-square-foot technology building and a 105,000-square-foot science, engineering, and math building. The technology building houses trade laboratories, classrooms, and offices. The science facility is four stories and serves as the gateway to the campus. The top three floors contain ten laboratories with prep and storage rooms for biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and space science; classrooms for allied health, architectural technology, and computer-aided drafting; a math and science learning center; and an astronomy lab with outside roof deck for night observations. The instructional areas are complemented by the ground floor fitness center and aerobics studio, student lounges, computer kiosks, a coffee bar, and welcome center.

Sustainable features of the LEED Silver certified facility include a green roof, energy efficient systems, recycled materials, and daylight harvesting.

“Reynolds is innovative and assisted me in making the best decisions for students while staying within all of the budget parameters I have established for them. Most importantly, they listen to me when I express the school district needs within our facilities; then they help me translate my vision into reality.”

Kendy Hinkel, Ed.D., Former Superintendent, Saint Clair Area School District
